Beach Ball Invitations
Despite living in Connecticut and having a December birthday, I had my heart set on having a pool party this year. I really had to think outside of the box about how I could successfully pull it off. It all started with the absolute cutest handmade beach ball invitations!
Supplies needed:
Beach balls - I bought these on Amazon (Oriental Trading has a great selection too)
Vinyl cutter & misc. accessories
Card stock
Ribbon of your choice
Bubble mailers - I bought these flamingo mailers on Amazon
Lets get crafty:
If you’re like me and don't speak Photoshop, have an awesome friend design the image for you.
Place the vinyl on the cutting mat and run through the vinyl cutter.
Remove the negative pieces from the image using a weeder.
Place the transfer paper (sticky side down) over the image and use the scraper to remove any air bubbles between the transfer paper and vinyl.
Very carefully and slowly peel the transfer paper (with weeded vinyl attached) off of the vinyl liner paper.
Make sure your beach ball is laying flat with the least amount of wrinkles possible.
Place the transfer paper (sticky side down) with weeded vinyl attached down on the beach ball and use the scraper to remove air bubbles between the transfer paper and beach ball.
Very carefully and slowly peel the transfer paper off of the beach ball.
Using a ribbon of your choice, wrap up the beach ball and instruction card (my instruction cards simply said "Inflate me!", I printed them with my home printer).
Pop it in the bubble mailer and head to the Post Office.
If you don't have access to a vinyl cutter, you can substitute the printed vinyl with directly writing on the beach ball with a Sharpie, paint pen, or something similar. Or, if you're not feeling crafty at all, you can order the beach balls custom printed.
I was so happy with how the invitations turned out! The flamingo bubble mailers were the perfect touch to keep them on theme. Since I kept the party hush hush, the recipients were completely caught off guard when they received them in the mail - just how I like it. :)
