Holiday Chex Mix

Holiday Chex Mix

If you need a last minute dessert or snack to bring to a holiday party, look no further! This Holiday Chex Mix (or rather “Christmas Crack” as my friends like to call it) does not disappoint - it’s the perfect combination of sweet & salty and is an instant crowd pleaser.

I actually made the harvest version of this recipe for a Halloween party earlier this year and it was a major hit! So much so that it was requested for a Friendsmas party this weekend, so here we are! One of the many reasons why I love this recipe is that it’s so versatile, you can easily change up the ingredients to fit the season. :)

Ingredients:

(for the sauce)

  • 3/4 cup butter

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract

(for the mix)

  • 4 cups Chex cereal

  • 4 cups Bugles

  • 4 cups pretzels

  • 2 cups M&M’s

  • 2 cups gummy bears

  • 2 cups Christmas corn

  • 1 box candy canes (broken)

(really any mix of bite size candies will do, I was just trying to stay in the Christmas theme)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 275*F

  2. Melt the butter in the microwave

  3. Whisk the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and butter until well combined and dissolved

  4. Mix the Chex, Bugles, and pretzels in a large bowl

  5. Pour the sauce over the cereal mixture and toss until evenly coated

  6. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper

  7. Divide the cereal mixture on the two baking sheets in even layers

  8. Bake for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes

  9. Remove from the oven and allow to completely cool

  10. Mix together the cereal mixture and candies and store in an air tight container

  11. Enjoy!
