Hi.

Welcome to With Lex! I document my adventures in life, style, and food. Hope you follow along! xoxo

The Big E

The Big E

Another late summer staple in New England is going to The Big E - I've been going since I was a little kid, and couldn't wait to go this summer! Amanda and I planned out our food & drink tour weeks in advance of our trip so that when the day came we were ready to eat and drink our way through the fair.

We started our morning out with a mac and cheese grilled cheese (with guac!) and some Shock Top autumn beers. We went on to enjoy baked potatoes from the Maine State House, Lobster Roll from the Rhode Island State House (just for Amanda, lobster lollipop for me), and soaked up some sun at the Sam Adams Beer Garden. We definitely saved money on concessions due to the extreme heat, the weather was in the upper 90s that day and it was just too hot to eat!

Since it was a week day and not very busy, we were able to pack in all of the fun activities of the fair - we went on the giant slide (the only ride I'll go on due to my fear of carnival rides), toured the 4H building (where Amanda nearly fainted when she was able to take a few selfies with a super cute cow), watched baby chicks hatch, saw the giant butter sculpture, checked out all the State Houses (as if they change from year to year, ha) and flew through the rest of the fairgrounds.
